Major Research Works

  • Frequency of cytokine secreting T cells and plasma cytokine levels at baseline: Do they correlate with disease activity or response to MTX in rheumatoid arthritis?
  • A Study of autoantibody responses In Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.
  • A study of prevalence of hypopituitarism in survivors post snake bite acute renal failure- A stand alone retrospective cohort study which followed up 400 patients of snake bit and inconclusively proved that pituitary dysfunction is a long term complication of snake bite

Other achievements

  • Presented in the plenary session (one among the best 15 abstracts) titled ‘Discovery 2008 Innovations in rheumatic disease’ of American College of Rheumatology scientific conference 2008. Study was titled “Efficacy Of Tadalafil In Secondary Raynaud’s Phenomenon Resistant To Vasodilator Therapy: A Double Blind Randomized Cross Over Trial”. First Indian to get an opportunity to present in a plenary session in the 72 years history of ACR. This was covered by US media widely including Medscape. This article was rated in top 10 articles read by rheumatologists, by Medscape in 2008.
  • Stood 2nd in AIPGME (All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination) in 2002. This exam in one of the largest competitive exam in the world attended by medical graduates and yearly up to 400,000 medical graduates appear for this highly competitive exam.
  • Conducting a day long Continuous Medical Education program, under the auspices of Kottayam Alumni Association, in Immunology and Rheumatology for last 2 years in Kerala which is attended by more than 1000 doctors. These CME program has helped to spread the awareness of these topics among the doctors.
  • Was selected to participate in Clinical Immunological Society summer school on the topic of Autoimmune Disease at Massachusetts, Boston. This meeting is aimed at increasing the co-operation among young immunologists all over the world. This meeting is conducted once an year and only 15 doctors are selected from the whole world.
